Benefits of HUDU involvement

HUDU plays a prominent part in influencing policy on health and planning at all levels and provides a range of information, advice, guidance and tools to help the health sector work effectively with the planning system.

Typically £9m in developer contributions alone are secured on average every year towards the cost of new health facilities and services in London by primary care organisations, HUDU and local authorities working together.

In addition, and equally important in terms of value, “in kind” benefits are secured on a regular basis – such as the provision of “shell and core” floor space within a development where a location on site for a new facility is required.

Wider health benefits are also achieved – for example, by taking a holistic view of the health needs, impacts and the opportunities new developments or regeneration schemes can create.
