Community Infrastructure Levy adopted by two more Boroughs

Croydon and Brent are the latest Boroughs to formally adopt a Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL). The new charging schedules will take effect from 1 April in Croydon and 1 July in Brent.Redbridge and Wandsworth were the first Boroughs in London to introduce the new levy (both in 2012), along with the Mayor, who introduced a London-wide CIL in April 2012 to help fund CrossRail. Where CIL is adopted, it replaces the use of S106 developer contributions as a means of funding the new community infrastructure required to support new development in an area.
