11–13 September 2013
The theme of this year’s Annual UK-Ireland Planning Research Conference, being held at the University of West England (UWE) in Bristol, is Healthy communities; hopeful places: In Defence of Planning.
As part of the Planning for Healthy Communities track, HUDU will be giving a paper on Health infrastructure planning: what does the future hold?
The paper will assess the main influences which have been shaping today’s health estate, assess the impact of more recent health and planning system reforms on health infrastructure planning and provision, and outline some of the key issues and opportunities around aligning health service reconfiguration and health infrastructure planning with sustainable development and the better use of public sector assets.
